Case Story:
Track 15 Food Hall | Union Station, Providence, RI

Project Overview

At the heart of historic Union Station in Providence, Rhode Island, Track 15 Food Hall brings new life to a space once known as one of the busiest train stations in America. Singer was contracted to provide a complete, turnkey solution, covering foodservice design, equipment specification, procurement, delivery, and installation. From concept to completion, Singer handled the project A to Z.

The Challenge

Revitalizing an 1898 train station into a modern, multi-kitchen food hall was no small task. The project posed several challenges:

Historic Structure Limitations: While the soaring barrel-vaulted brick ceiling and original iron bridge structure remained intact, the building’s age revealed hidden obstacles. During site verification, unrecorded structural columns forced a major redesign of equipment placement.

Complex Logistics:
The operator’s vision called for multiple kitchens and a central bar on a scale never before attempted in Rhode Island. This required coordinating dozens of moving parts, from sourcing equipment worldwide to planning around long lead times and staging deliveries.

Balancing Vision and Budget:
The ownership team needed to align design aspirations with practical budgets, all while learning the critical back-of-house requirements that power a smooth customer-facing experience..

Our Solution

Singer approached the project with collaboration, creativity, and precision:

Adaptive Redesign: When structural surprises surfaced, Singer quickly pivoted, working hand-in-hand with architects, engineers, and the operator to reconfigure layouts without compromising functionality or  customer experience.

Masterclass in Logistics: Leveraging national and global vendor relationships, Singer secured the right equipment at the right time. Long-lead items were identified early, and storage strategies were developed to accommodate evolving construction phases.

Educating and Guiding Ownership: Singer’s design and sales teams walked the owners through every detail, from back-of-house infrastructure to bar service flow, ensuring long-term success and a seamless guest experience.

Options and Flexibility: Drawing from experience with food halls nationwide, Singer provided multiple design and equipment options across different price points. This allowed the ownership team to make informed choices that matched their goals and budget.
